Construction of Ela Beach Facilities to end in 2018

Construction of Ela Beach Facilities to end in 2018

The latest updates from Port Moresby Chamber of Commerce and Industry Secretariat shows that ongoing construction work at Ela Beach will soon end. They said that construction of new iconic APEC Haue, part of Ela Beach project scheduled for completion in July 2018. The Secretariat gave these updates on Friday, January 20, 2018.
The Secretariat expressed their confidence that the work will be completed by the third quarter 2018. Moreover, the Secretariat said that the assigned contractors act professionally and will meet the project timelines. The construction of two new lanes out of the new four-lane carriageway had begun during the time of updates. The team said they were hopeful that the initiated construction would not interfere with the traffic on the available two lanes.
The main contractor is Global Construction and hopes to complete the remaining work within nine months. Moreover, Stanley Esplanade is in charge of one new lane.
Besides, the progress of POM sewerage project by Stanley Junction is recommendable since they utilize time well. The Secretariat also asked for patience from the members of the public.
From the ongoing projects, the closure of Hunter-street for vehicles entering CBD will give contractor easy time. Currently, vehicles turn through Stanley Esplanade then drive to change a lane at CBD by using Champion Parade.
The work to link the Tokarara Road to the Hanuabada By-Pass is also ongoing. Upon completion, the road will pass through the Freeway at Police HQ. As a result, the congestion in the CBD roads is high, but it will last for only a few weeks to sort the mess.
The Secretariat advised the public to remain vigilant while driving. The drivers should lock the doors and close windows.
Upon completion, we expect parking at the front Harbourside precinct to reduce. Besides, close to Old Whaft, there is adequate parking space.
